The Performance Guide runs within the Microsoft Visual Studio* 2008, 2010, or 2012 IDE.
This feature requires installation of another product. For more information, see Feature Requirements.
To start the Performance Guide, do the following:
Start Visual Studio and open your C++ solution.
Choose Tools > Intel Composer XE 2013 > Start Performance Guide. Alternatively, you can right-click on your solution, then chooseStart Performance Guide.
The tool opens two new windows in the Visual Studio IDE. You can control placement of both windows.
In the above, the Performance Guide windows, highlighted in yellow, have been positioned to reflect user preferences.
The Workflow window, which initially appears in the same area as the Solution Explorer, shows the steps in the Performance Guide workflow. This window, shown at the lower left, keeps track of completed steps and provides an easy way for you to navigate through the workflow.
The Guidance window, shown at the lower right, displays information about each step and provides instructions for completing the step.
This window also provides buttons to automate the current step when possible. A series of Next buttons allows you to move through the workflow.
