User and Reference Guide for the Intel® C++ Compiler 14.0

Select Build Components dialog box (VS 2008)

The following applies to Microsoft Visual Studio* 2008.

To access the Select Build Components dialog box, click the Project menu and select Intel C++ Composer XE > Select Build Components.

Use the Select Build Components dialog box to specify Intel Performance Libraries-- Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives (Intel® IPP), Intel® Threading Building Blocks (Intel® TBB), Intel® Math Kernel Library (Intel® MKL)-- and/or the compiler version to use with the selected project configuration. The dialog box supports both Intel® C++ and Microsoft Visual C++* project types.

Project Configuration: Select the desired project configuration. Choose from Debug or Release. Debug sets project options to include debug symbol information and turns off optimization. Release does not include debug symbol information; this configuration uses any optimizations that you have chosen.

Project Platform: Select the desired project platform.

Suite to use with this configuration: Select the desired suite. To use the default suite version, select <Default> . To use standalone libraries in your project with the Visual C++* compiler, select <Standalone Libraries> from the drop-down box and Apply. You can now select specific performance libraries in the Performance Libraries Versions drop-down boxes.

Note

Standalone libraries are available for use with the Visual C++* compiler only.

Default suite version: Shows the default suite version that will be used if you select <Default> in Suite to use with this configuration.

Performance Libraries Versions

Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives: Select the desired Intel® IPP library version.

Intel® Threading Building Blocks: Select the desired Intel® TBB library version.

Intel® Math Kernel Library: Select the desired Intel® MKL library version.

Intel® Integrated Performance Primitives

Use IPP: Select one of the following:

Intel® Threading Building Blocks

Use TBB: Check this box to use Intel® TBB.

Instrument for use with Intel® Threading Analysis Tools: Check this box to add the preprocessor definition TBB_USE_THREADING_TOOLS to the project property Preprocessor > Preprocessor Definitions.

Note

The Instrument for use with Intel® Threading Analysis Tools option is only available if the project property Code Generation > Runtime Library is set to Multi-threaded DLL (/MD).

Intel® Math Kernel Library

Use Intel® MKL: Select one of the following:

Use ILP64 interfaces: This option appears if your target platform is set to either x64 or Itanium . Check this box to add the corresponding ilp MKL libraries to the linker command line. Additionally, the MKL_ILP64 preprocessor definition will be added to the compiler command line. If you do not make this selection, lp Intel® MKL libraries will be used.

Note

Sets of libraries for each option depend on selected target platform and project properties defined by Code Generation > Runtime Library and Advanced > Calling Convention.

Optimization Notice

Intel's compilers may or may not optimize to the same degree for non-Intel microprocessors for optimizations that are not unique to Intel microprocessors. These optimizations include SSE2, SSE3, and SSSE3 instruction sets and other optimizations. Intel does not guarantee the availability, functionality, or effectiveness of any optimization on microprocessors not manufactured by Intel. Microprocessor-dependent optimizations in this product are intended for use with Intel microprocessors. Certain optimizations not specific to Intel microarchitecture are reserved for Intel microprocessors. Please refer to the applicable product User and Reference Guides for more information regarding the specific instruction sets covered by this notice.
