This topic only applies to Intel® Many Integrated Core Architecture (Intel® MIC Architecture).
You can build a binary to run natively on Intel® MIC Architecture, without building one to run on the CPU at all.
To build a native Intel® MIC Architecture binary, include the mmic (Linux* OS) or Qmic (Windows* OS) compiler option when you invoke the compiler. You can use the MIC_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable to add additional paths to search for libraries needed to build the native binary.
When you specify Windows* option /Qmic, you must specify any other options on the command line in the Linux* form. This is because all other options are passed directly to the native Intel® MIC Architecture compiler, which is a Windows*-hosted Linux* compiler.
For example, when debugging applications for Intel® MIC Architecture on Windows* OS, you should use:
ifort /Qmic -g
