Specifies the name for an output file.

Syntax

Linux OS and OS X:

-o filename

Windows OS:

None

Arguments

filename

Is the name for the output file. The space before filename is optional.

Default

OFF

The compiler uses the default file name for an output file.

Description

This option specifies the name for an output file as follows:

Otherwise, it specifies the name of the executable file.

Note

If you misspell a compiler option beginning with "o", such as -openmp, -opt-report, etc., the compiler interprets the misspelled option as an -o filename option. For example, say you misspell "-opt-report" as " -opt-reprt"; in this case, the compiler interprets the misspelled option as "-o pt-reprt", where pt-reprt is the output file name.
