The following applies to Microsoft Visual Studio* 2012, 2010, and 2008.
You can specify a target platform for a Visual Studio* solution or an individual project within a solution.
In the Configuration Manager dialog box, do the following:
Use the Active solution platform drop-down list to specify the target platform for the whole solution.
Use the
Platform
column to specify the target platform for an individual project within a solution.
To add a platform to the current list of active solution platforms in the Configuration Manager :
Choose <New...> from the Active solution platform drop-down list.

Another dialog box appears to specify a new platform.
In Copy settings from: , choose a platform whose settings will be used as a template or choose <Empty> and click OK .
If you want the platform to be set for the projects within the solution, select Create new project platforms.
Click OK.
The new platform appears in the Active Solution platform drop-down list.
If you completed Step 4, the new platform will also appear in the Platform list for the projects within the solution.
If you did not complete Step 4, you can specify the new platform for a single project by doing the following:
Choose
<New...>
from the platform drop-down list for a specific project:
Specify the new platform in the dialog box that appears.
If you want the platform to be set for the solution, click Create new solution platforms.
Click OK.
You can remove a target platform from the Configuration Manager:
Select <Edit...> from the Active solution platform list of options. This opens the Edit Solutions Platforms dialog.
Select a platform and click Remove.
Click Yes in the Confirmation box that appears.
